Announcing the 2010-2011 All-Sports Awards Recipients

For the fifteenth year, Universal Athletic is excited to announce the All-Sports Class Champions results for the 2010-2011 Montana High School sports season. Winners in each division will receive permanent trophies and will possess for a year the master traveling trophy listing all winners.

“The All-Sports Award is one small way we can recognize and thank all the high schools in Montana who have been so good to Universal Athletic over the past 40 years. It is always fun for us to follow the competitions and track the points in all four classes during the school year.” Larry Aasheim, Universal Athletic Co-Founder and President

Points in the All-Sports competition are awarded on a 25-15-10-5 basis for the “major sports” [football, boys’ and girls’ basketball, wrestling, volleyball, and boys’ and girls’ track.) The point system for the other sports [golf, tennis, swimming, cross country, soccer, and softball) is 12-9-6-3. 91 schools competed for points this year [AA-14, A-21, B-24, C-32.]

The Class AA All-Sports Award recipient for 2010-2011 is Bozeman High School. Bozeman’s athletic teams took home five 1st place awards: Girls’ Cross Country, Boys’ Cross Country, Football, Wrestling, and Boys’ Basketball. The Girl’s Golf and Girls’ Tennis teams each took 2nd. 3rd place went to the Boys’ Golf, Boys’ Swimming, and Girls’ Basketball teams. Bozeman also grabbed 4th place in Boys’ Soccer, Volleyball, and Boys’ Track.

Billings Central Catholic High School wins the Class A All-Sports Award this year with 1st place wins in Girls’ Golf, Girls’ Soccer, Girls’ Swimming, and Boys’ Swimming. Central also took 2nd in Football, 3rd in Volleyball, 3rd in Girls’ Basketball, 4th in Softball, and 3rd place in Boys’ Track.

Glasgow High School will take home the trophy this year for the Class B All-Sports Award. Glasgow took 1st in Girls’ Cross Country, 3rd in Boys’ Cross Country, 3rd in Wrestling, and 1st in Girls’ Track.

This year’s Class C All-Sports Award goes to Chinook High School, whose athletes took 1st place in football and wrestling, as well as 4th place in Boys’ Golf, Girls’ Tennis, and Boys’ Track.
