Wrestling Returns To Montana State! Battle In The Big Sky Set For Jan. 2nd, 2009 at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse
Michigan’s Wolverines and Oregon State’s Beavers Highlight Non-Conference Dual In First NCAA Men’s Match At Montana State University Since mid-1980s
The University of Michigan wrestling team will put their school’s famous fight song lyrics, ‘Champions Of The West’, to the test on January 2nd when the Wolverines travel to Montana State University (MSU) to face Oregon State University in a non-conference dual meet at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse on the MSU campus.
The match will place major college wrestling on the Montana State campus for the first time since the mid-1980s when the school dropped the sport. Universal Athletic Service, Inc. of Bozeman, Montana, one of the country’s most-prominent team dealers and retailers of wrestling gear and apparel, is the event’s title sponsor.
The match was conceived by Nate Laslovich and Tony Beardsley, the current and former head wrestling coaches, respectively, at nearby Bozeman High School with help from Greg Miller of Universal Athletic Supply. Montana State University Athletic Director Peter Fields says the match’s concept and ultimate fruition was easily executed.
