Universal Athletic in Peoria, Arizona ran a special through the holiday season where customers could bring in an old pair of footwear and receive a discount on a new pair.
The Salvation Army gave Universal Athletic a bin to use and our customers helped fill it up. Thank you to those who donated their shoes!
Holiday Greetings:
We are excited to announce 3 teams will be developed for the 2011 RIM Montana All-Star Basketball program. We are expecting an even larger turnout of athletes from around the state to compete at our spring tryouts (final dates to be determined). The tryout itself is a very exciting and competitive opportunity for athlete's to compete with and against some of the best same age basketball players in the region. At the tryout, it's a great chance for ball players to see where they stand in comparison with other top players from Montana and a few neighboring states.
From May through July, 2011, we will be taking 3 teams to several regional and national tournaments - 7th grade boys, 8th grade boys, and HS boys. Last year, our youngest team finished 3rd place overall at the AAU Western National Championship in Las Vegas. Our HS boy's team finished 4th in a very tough divisional pool. Some of our HS athletes are receiving communication from college coaches and are discussing or being offered scholarships! Many college scouts and recruiters attend these summer events.
The Montana State University Alumni Association hosted a special unveiling celebration at the Gallatin Field Airport at 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 30, 2010 to welcome the MSU-themed plane.
Alumni and fans were invited to attend the event which included food and beverages provided courtesy of the Alumni Association and Horizon Airlines.
Appearances were made by Champ, MSU cheerleaders, and President Cruzado.
The plane looks great!

The North Valley Kings of Phoenix, a 12U club baseball team and customer of Universal Athletic, welcomed home PFC Josh Bullis. PFC Bullis was injured serving in Afghanistan on September 18, 2010 where he lost both legs and one arm and is now rehabbing in San Diego. That night, he was cheered on by a large group of family, friends and community members at Sky Harbor Airport.
"We have had the fortune of winning a tournament this season and the experience of losing in the first game of elimination. That being said, I would propose that our best team effort was that night in support of a solider and his family whose sacrifice makes it all possible," said North Valley Kings Coach Mark Fritz.
“It was an amazing night for all.”
Universal Athletic applauds the North Valley Kings for going out of its way to support a fellow Phoenix community member and U.S. Soldier. Thanks for being a great example to other teams.
