Article featured on billingsbusiness.com: Fans of the Billings Mustangs may remember Adam Bryant as one of the key contributors to a team that won the 1994 Pioneer League championship. Bryant also won the league’s Rolaids Relief award in 1995 with a 4-2 record and 11 saves. But, Billings was just one stop in a career that started with college ball at Virginia Commonwealth University. The tall right-hander also played AA baseball for Chattanooga, and was a three-time all-star in the Western Baseball League for the Chico Heat and the Yuma Bullfrogs.
“That was a fun part of my life, but I don’t think about that much anymore,” said Bryant, the retail and exercise equipment manger for Universal Athletic Service. “There are so many different things that occupy me right now, like my family,” Bryant said.
Like many former Mustangs, Bryant met his wife, Jennifer, in Billings. After his baseball career ended, he taught English to eighth-graders in Arizona. “But, we weren’t happy there. We felt like we wanted to be closer to family.”
Returning to Billings was the right move, he said.
“It’s a great place to raise a family,” said the father of three.
Toughest business decision: “Making a true commitment to customer service in order to separate Universal Athletic Service from the competition. You have to step outside the box and do things that the competition won’t. When a customer is buying a letter jacket or a pair of basketball shoes, we take a personal interest in their purchase.”
How would you make Billings a better place? “As my children grow and begin to play sports, I plan to coach or help in whatever sport they choose. Raising my children to be responsible, healthy and happy individuals is the best way I can make Billings a better place.”
What do you consider your greatest achievement? “Earning my college degree; one of the very few in my family to do so.”
