Weston Dressler, CFL Rookie of the Year, to have high school jersey retired by Bismarck High
Autograph Meet and Greet Session at Universal Athletic of Bismarck, 1001 West Interstate Avenue Suite 102, in Pinehurst Square across from Old Navy, on Saturday March 28th from 10am-3pm
Weston Dressler, a wide receiver with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, will be honored with the retirement of his jersey at Bismarck High School on Monday March 23rd. To further celebrate this event, Universal Athletic will host an autograph meet and greet session at their Bismarck location on Saturday March 28th from 10am-3pm.
Weston Dressler played football for Bismarck High School from 00’-03’ and made his mark on Bismarck area athletics. He led the Demons to a state championship in 2001 and was named All-State three times. In 2003, he was named the Gatorade Player of the Year for his abilities on the turf. Dressler continued football at the next level and finished his collegiate career as University of North Dakota’s all-time receiving leader. He graduated with 19 different school records and was UND’s Male Athlete of the Year in 2007-2008. He earned 2007 All-American honors, two straight NCC Most Valuable Receiver awards, and was named to the 2007 All-NCC first team at three different positions. Dressler earned his fourth straight All-NCC first team selection, becoming just the fourth player in conference history to do so. His academic prowess had him named to ESPN the Magazine’s Academic All-America first team for two years straight. Dressler was also the national semifinalist for the Draddy Trophy, which is the highest academic honor in NCAA football for all division levels.
Last season, Dressler followed his excellent college career by being named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Rookie. During his 2008 CFL campaign, the Roughrider put together a 56 reception, 1123 yard season that included 6 touchdowns.
Although his career in the CFL is just beginning, he has a lot to celebrate. The event at Universal Athletic will include free signed 4”x6”photos of the local star as well as several raffles including footballs and a Roughrider jersey autographed by Weston.
Demon, Sioux, and Roughrider fans of all ages are encouraged to make an appearance at Universal Athletic in Bismarck and support the local athlete!
